PGLDN settles 5-year 'rido' between two Moro clans

TUBOD, Lanao del Norte  (PIA)--Over five years of rido, or family feud, between the Pindo Masaronay Clan of Salvador town and the Radia Muda Tampogao Clan of Nunungan town have come to an end through the initiative of the Provincial Government of Lanao del Norte (PGLDN).

The office of Board Member Achmad Taha, the Sangguniang Panglungsod chairperson on Rido Settlement, facilitated the said Settlement  at the Kalimudad Multi-purpose Building, Provincial Capitol compound, Tubod.

"Dinhi sa Lanao del Norte, garbo nato ang panaghiusa sa mga Muslim and Christians, apan unsaon nato paglig-on kining atong panaghiusa kung naay mga pamilyang nagkabingkalay? Ako naghangyo sa inyong tabang og suporta sa pagmintinar ning maong kalinaw para kita dinhi dili kahadlokan, ilabina sa mga investors nga gustong musulod sa atong probinsya," she said.

(Here in Lanao del Norte, we take pride in the unity of Muslims and Christians, but how can we strengthen this unity when there are families embroiled in conflicts? I humbly ask for your help and support in maintaining this peace we have here, not just for ourselves but also for potential investors who wish to come to our province)

Representing the 2nd Mechanized Infantry Brigade Commander, BGen. Anthon Abrina, Lt. Col. Juvegleen Escandor, the commanding officer of the 5th Mechanized Infantry Battalion, extended their support and emphasized that the rido settlement is an opportunity to provide the children involved a chance to complete their education since they were the primary ones affected by the conflict.

"Walay kahusayan na mahatag kanato ang kagubot. Kami sa Armed Forces of the Philippines, kauban ang atong kapulisan (Conflict can never bring us any good. We, the Armed Forces of the Philippines, together with the police), are always here to secure the peace and order of the community, but we need the commitment of everyone to abide by the settlement that you have agreed on," he said.

Meanwhile, Lanao del Norte Police Provincial Office Director PCol. Sandy Vales  highlighted the importance of peace over conflict. He expressed that what the province truly needs is peace, not war, and urged everyone to unite for progress and a harmonious community.

Moreover, Mayor Hassanor Tawantawan of Salvador acknowledged the efforts of the Governor and former Representative Abdullah Dimaporo, considering their gathering as evidence and a testament to their hard work and dedication in seeking solutions to the needs of different municipalities.

He also emphasized that, as leaders, they are committed to maintaining peace in the province to provide opportunities for the people to live a decent life, especially those involved in agriculture. (PIO Lanao del Norte/PIA-10/Lanao del Norte)
