82 MisOcc SHS benefit from pre-employment coaching

OROQUIETA CITY, Misamis Occidental (PIA)--The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE)-10, through the Misamis Occidental Provincial Field Office (MOPFO), headed by Chief Ebba Acosta, conducted Pre-Employment Coaching to 82 senior high school students of Baliangao School of Fisheries at the Food Processing Laboratory, Misom, Baliangao, here.

The activity covered topics such as labor market information (LMI), key employment generators, résumé and application letter preparation, proper grooming, networking, and building positive relationships with others. It also focused on work ethics for aspiring professionals.

Mary Jane A. Cornelio, the school’s head teacher, emphasized that the importance of the activity is for the Grade 12 students to grasp the speakers' views and urge them to acquire ideas that may direct them towards their chosen professional paths. Cornelio also stressed that the activity will benefit the students as they try to navigate their chosen career paths.

School Principal Nena T. Arcay inspired the students to strive for something greater than themselves despite their responsibilities, troubles, and struggles. She also emphasized five critical traits of future workers: honesty, the ability to create boundaries, humility, controlling desires, and courage. Through the maxim, "You have to thrive on your own," Principal Arcay boosted the morale of the participants.

The school principal, teachers, and guidance counselor thanked the DOLE and the Public Employment Service Office (PESO) for providing the students with comprehensive and insightful pre-employment knowledge and labor market information. (DOLE-X Misamis Occidental Provincial Field Office)
