The Commission on Population and Development (CPD) Mimaropa through the initiative of the Provincial Government of Marinduque, the CPD outreach team, and DKT Philippines Foundation, Inc., spearheads the Pamilyang Mimaropan Caravan-- a family planning outreach activity to celebrate this year’s Family Planning Month.
This year’s theme, "Usap Tayo sa Family Planning Para Protektado ang Pamilyang Pilipino!" envisions all Filipinos of reproductive ages being aware of their sexual and reproductive health needs and rights.
Since the state of public health emergency due to COVID-19 has been lifted, the CPD, together with the local government units, have taken the opportunity to deliver family planning services, specifically permanent methods in hard-to-reach areas in the region.
"This is one of the much-awaited activities in the LGUs. We spearhead this caravan to deliver permanent methods to couples and individuals who have voluntarily opted to undergo the sterilization method," CPD Mimaropa Regional Director Reynaldo O. Wong said.
Aside from this outreach activity, CPD Mimaropa, alongside other regional line agencies is set to bring government information and services closer to the indigenous people's community. Likened to a one-stop-shop dubbed Transforming Lives, Engaging People, the first Mimaropa Information and Service Delivery Caravan is the culminating activity of the 2023 Family Planning Month hosted by the Provincial Social Welfare and Development and Population and Development offices of the province of Occidental Mindoro in coordination with the member agencies of the Regional Population Executive Board of Mimaropa on August 31, 2023.
