NAVAL, Biliran -- To closely monitor its project implementation and ensure that projects are at the right quality, officials of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) - Biliran District Engineering Office (DEO) inspected the ongoing P100-M rockfall netting project in Brgy. Inasuyan, Kawayan, along Biliran Circumferential Road (BCR) on August 1.
The inspection was led by OIC-District Engineer Alfredo L. Bollido and Assistant District Engineer Irwin L. Antonio accompanied by some section chiefs and unit heads, technical personnel, and media practitioners of this province.
The said project, under 2023 funding, involves the installation of slope protection material via rock netting covering a total area of 4,027 square meters.
Bollido explained that rock netting involves a wire mesh laid on the slope with continuous anchorage at the top to bottom of the slope with a 5-meter rod drilled into rock, then injected by cement mortar solution to make it stable and clamped with spike plate and tightened with bolt.
According to Bollido, rockfall netting project is introduced to promote the growth of natural vegetation while protecting the roads and the travelling public against rockfall/landslide.
During the project inspection, DPWH-Biliran DEO officials inspected the plans and program of works of the said project with the presence of the contractor’s representative on site.
“Visiting the site and conducting project inspection is a way for us to see the actual status of the project and assess if this project is being implemented according to the DPWH standards and specifications,” Bollido said.
As of July 31, 2023, the project has an accomplishment rate of 62.08% under contract with EZJones Construction Inc. (DPWH-BDEO)
