GSIS members, pensioners avail 20% discount on PAG Shows at GSIS Theater

PASAY CITY -- State pension fund Government Service Insurance System (GSIS) members and pensioners may now enjoy a 20% discount on all Performing Arts Groups (PAG) shows in the GSIS Theater until June 30, 2024.

The discount was sealed after GSIS President and General Manager Wick Veloso and the representatives of PAG signed the memorandum of agreement on Friday at the GSIS Head Office in Pasay City.

With the agreement, the GSIS aims to bring culture and arts closer to its members and pensioners through discounted tickets, while supporting PAG in their artistic pursuits. PAG is also granted access to GSIS Theater facilities, including the lounge, rehearsal hall, and grand pianos.

“Partnering with PAG reinforces our commitment to keeping Filipino culture vibrant. We are delighted to open our theater for their performances and urge our employees, members, pensioners, and their families to support these shows,” President and General Manager Wick Veloso said.

For her part, Repertory Philippines President and Chief Executive Officer Margarita Barredo Perez-Rubio, speaking on behalf of the other signatories said, “We have striven for years on our own. That is why I am so heartened that a government institution has stepped up to the plate to support the performing arts. Many kudos and thanks.”

PAG is the umbrella organization comprising Ballet Philippines Foundation, Manila Symphony Orchestra, Repertory Philippines, Tanghalang Pilipino, and Popular Music Concerts.

The groups were each represented by Trustee Lulette Monbiot, Trustee Corazon Alvina, President and Chief Executive Officer Margarita Barredo Perez-Rubio, Artistic Director Fernando “Tatang Nanding” Josef, and owner Alexandra “Sandy” Hontiveros.

The renovated GSIS Theater, which reopened in December 2022, hosted the Manila Symphony Orchestra for its maiden performance in the venue and “Bulaklak ng City Jail” in May, which was attended by National Artist Nora Aunor. “Ibarra the Musical” featuring Piolo Pascual was showcased in June.

For tickets, members and pensioners may buy directly from PAG members and their authorized ticket outlets. (GSIS)
