Provincial gov't dedicates 'Welcome Park' after late Gov Malanyaon

MATI, Davao Oriental (PIA) - - In a poignant commemoration marking what would have been the 74th birthday of the late Governor Corazon N. Malanyaon, the Provincial Government of Davao Oriental held a dedication ceremony of the Davao Oriental Welcome Park in Pintatagan, Banaybanay.

The ceremony, led by  seeks to immortalize Governor Malanyaon's legacy and her contributions to the province's development.

The park, which Malanyaon herself conceptualized, is now named as the Corazon T. Nuñez Malanyaon Welcome Park as a tribute to her unwavering dedication to the growth of Davao Oriental.

The park, which was created to capture the spectacular beauty of Davao Oriental, serves as a welcome sight for visitors and reflects the splendor of the province's natural beauty.

In his message, Gov. Uy said the dedication of the park goes beyond merely immortalizing her name in stone as it is more of a commitment to upholding the values she stood for and the principles she lived.

"As we pass through this so-called Gateway to Davao Oriental, we will remember her (Governor Malanyaon's) unwavering dedication and the good deeds she shared with each of us," the governor said.

He also pledged to continue Governor Malanyaon's legacy, highlighting the importance of boosting the agriculture 

and tourism sectors in particular, as these are the two pillars that support the province's economic growth and development.

"We will continue to give our agriculture industry, which is the backbone of our province, the time and attention it deserves. Likewise, (rehabilitation) of our eco-parks, museums, and construction of new attractions will continue to be done," the governor said.

The Welcome Park honors an iconic leader whilst also serving as an emblem of Davao Oriental's promising future.

Incorporating distinct features that pay homage to Governor Malanyaon, the Welcome Park now boasts a prominent signpost bearing her name and a life-sized bust capturing her likeness.
