MALAYBALAY CITY (PIA)--The Department of Labor and Employment in Northern Mindanao (DOLE-10), through its Bukidnon Provincial Field Office (BukPFO), simultaneously released a total of P4,313,250 in salaries for the Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers (TUPAD) in three different locations within the 4th Congressional District of Bukidnon.
The 1,065 TUPAD beneficiaries received P4,050 each, reflecting 10 days of community service at the current minimum wage of P405 per day.
“Through the TUPAD program, beneficiaries engage in community-based activities such as the de-clogging of canals and cleaning and disinfection of public places," Raul L. Valmores, BukPFO Provincial Head said.
He encouraged beneficiaries to utilize their salaries for family sustenance and basic needs.
The beneficiaries included 666 from Valencia City's 31 barangays; 227 from Pangantucan's 19 barangays; and 172 from Kalilangan's 14 barangays, all in Bukidnon province.
Juvy Alsola, a 55-year-old widow from Barandias Pangantucan, expressed gratitude to the department for visiting their municipality to implement TUPAD, noting that the money she received would support her family as she sells vegetables in the local market.
“Kani nga kwarta, dako gyud nga tabang sa amo. Naa koy duha ka anak nga ga-eskwela ug ang isa PWD. Dako nani nga kantitad sa amoa. Magamit pud nako ni pang-kapital. Salamat kaayo kay naapil mi ani nga programa.”
(As the sole provider of my family, this money is a great help for us. I have two children who are attending school and one is a person with a disability (PWD) who needs care. This amount means a lot to us. Thank you DOLE for including us in this program).
Bonefacia Ablania, an "Inadlawan (seasonal worker," considered the program timely due to their lack of work in the fields for almost a month.
“Dako ni nga tabang sa akong pamilya. Sama namo nga inadlawan ra ang panginabuhian. Talagsa ra mi makadawat ug trabaho. Kani akong makuha karon para gyud ni sa among panginahanglanon. (This is a significant help for my family. As seasonal workers, we rely on occasional employment. I will use the money I receive from TUPAD for our immediate needs)," she exclaimed.
Reyna L. Tagailo, DOLE-Buk PFO TUPAD focal, led the payout, along with TUPAD coordinators. With a commitment to enhancing the socio-economic status of beneficiaries, DOLE-10 Buk PFO tirelessly works to implement TUPAD and conduct further payouts in the province.
TUPAD is an institutionalized, community-based amelioration program aimed at helping displaced, underemployed, and seasonal workers during natural and man-made calamities. (RLT/KCP/DOLE 10-BukPFO/PIA 10/Bukidnon)
