PGMO culminates 123rd PH civil service anniv celeb with Fililpino games

OROQUIETA CITY, Misamis Occidental (PIA)—Ending the 123rd Philippine Civil Service Anniversary (PCSA), the provincial government here held the competition and traditional Filipino games known as “Palarong Pinoy" at the Misamis Occidental Provincial Athletic Complex (MOPAC) Grandstand, September 26.

The games included patintero, bahaw-bahaw, sack race, dodge ball, Chinese garter, luksong lubid, siatong, takyan, sungka, and paligid sa ligid.

The activity also featured Tiendesitas sa Kapitolyo, showcasing the best of Misamis Occidental products, from locally-made furniture and handicrafts to bags and souvenir items, as well as food and delicacies.

Misamis Occidental Governor Henry Oaminal officially opened the “Palarong Pinoy,” which was intended to promote and preserve the rich Filipino culture through traditional games.

He also witnessed the performance of the employees in the Saludo competition and doubled the prizes for the winners.

The governor lauded the concerted efforts of the officials and employees in making the event a success.

Vice Governor Rowena Gutierrez shared that the 123rd Civil Service Anniversary celebration showed how supportive the employees were of the province's activities.

She claimed that this demonstrated their confidence in the Governor Oaminal-led Asenso administration as the province worked together to achieve the 5Ms developmental thrust, "Misamisnon Magpuyong Malinawon, Malamboon ug Malipayon," with the goal of making Misamis Occidental the best place to live in the area.

“Today, as we conduct our PGMO Fun and Games, we hope that our different Larong Pinoy and other fun-mazing activities will strengthen our camaraderie as one family. As we share laughter and enjoyable moments, may this become one of our core memories in our service as PGMO employees,” Gutierrez emphasized.

The PGMO believed that the different sets of competitions were not mere fun and games, or a test of who is more talented than whom, but rather a test of camaraderie and an embodiment of the core values. (PGMO/Shaine Mae Nagtalon)
