NHCP, USJ-R brings Philippine-Spanish lectures to Cebu City

CEBU CITY – The National Historical Commission of the Philippines (NHCP), in partnership with the University of San Jose – Recoletos, Cebu City Cultural and Historical Commission (CHAC) and the Cebu City Cultural and Historical Affairs Office (CHAO), will hold Part 2 of the 2023 Amistad Duradera Philippine-Spanish Friendship Day Lecture Series at the USJ-R Campus, Cebu City on 13 October 2023. 

The Amistad Duradera Lectures is a project in line with the Philippine-Spanish Friendship Day commemorations, that will bring to the various regions and provinces of the country, the stories of Philippine-Spanish ties in our history and culture. This project is also in partnership with the Embassy of Spain in the Philippines and is in solidarity with the Local Historical Committees Network. For 2023, the NHCP has partnered with three higher education institutions in Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao to bring our history closer to the localities. 

Part 2 will focus on the theme of Faith and Humanity: The Visayas and Spain's Role in Filipino Spirituality. NHCP Deputy Executive Director for Programs and Projects Alvin R. Alcid, USJ-R President Rev. Fr. Eduardo S. Celiz Jr., OAR, and Spanish Ambassador to the Philippines Miguel Utray Delgado, will give opening and inspirational messages during the program.

The NHCP is the principal government agency mandated with promoting Philippine history and protecting our cultural heritage.
