MALAYBALAY CITY, Bukidnon (PIA)--The Provincial Local Government Unit of Bukidnon, through Governor Rogelio Neil P. Roque, allotted P5 million of the government funds to the rice farmers by entering into a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with the NFA through Palay Marketing Assistance for Legislators and Local Government Units (PALLGU) in order to help the farmers augment their income while at the same time helping the NFA build buffer stocks for calamities and emergencies.
An additional P2/kg on top of the effective palay buying price offered by the National Food Authority Bukidnon Branch Office will go to rice farmers who sell their palay to the buffer stocking agency, effective October 13, 2023.
Under the PALLGU Palay Procurement Scheme, the NFA will utilize the downloaded funds by a legislator or LGU by adding P2 to the current buying price. When the delivered palay has 14% moisture content, a purity of 90% and above, and only 7% damaged and discolored grains, and when the set buffer stocking incentive is at its maximum, the farmer gets P23/kg, but with the P2/kg PALLGU in effect, the farmer gets P25 for every kilogram of palay sold to NFA.
The MOA is entered into between Governor Roque of PLGU Bukidnon and NFA 10 through Regional Manager Beverly M. Navarro and NFA Bukidnon Branch Manager Esmeraldo Bantigue in a ceremonial MOA signing and turnover of the P5 million check on October 13, 2023, here. (NFA-10/PIA-10)
