Dapitan Engineering Office removes dangerous boulder in Barangay Sinonoc

Residents of Barangay Sinonoc, Dapitan City, can finally breathe a sigh of relief as the City Engineering Office (CEO) successfully removed the dangerous boulder that threatened their safety on Friday, January 5, 2024. This swift action followed the initial report by Michael Tome to the City Information Division (CID), whose vigilance and prompt reporting helped avert a potential disaster.

Following the assessment by the City Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office (CDRRMO) on January 2, confirming the boulder's significant hazard, the CEO immediately mobilized its team to meticulously plan and execute a controlled removal operation, prioritizing the safety of both personnel and residents.

"The operation was a success," declared City Engineering Officer Engr. Ronaldo Balisado. "We safely removed the boulder without any injuries or property damage. We are grateful for Mr. Tome's timely report and the efficient collaboration between the CDRRMO and our office."

With the boulder gone, residents in the vicinity can now return to their homes with peace of mind. The incident serves as a valuable reminder of the importance of community involvement in disaster risk reduction.

"This incident reinforces the importance of responsible citizens like Mr. Tome," stated Engr. Nelson Quimiguing, Dapitan CDRRM Officer. "His quick reporting allowed us to address the situation before it could escalate. We encourage everyone to stay alert and report any potential hazards to the CDRRMO immediately."

The Dapitan CDRRMO continues to remind residents to remain vigilant and report any potential dangers they encounter. They can be reached at Globe (0917-110-4882), Smart (0909-565-9000), or PLDT (908-2875). They can also report by sending an email at cid.lgudapitan@gmail.com or by messaging at the Facebook Page of the City Government of Dapitan.

Dapitan City stands as a testament to effective disaster risk management and community engagement. With a proactive approach, vigilant citizens, and coordinated efforts, the city continues to build a safer and more resilient future for all.
