DILG to conduct quarterly recognition for LGUs implementing PBBM’s KALINISAN program

MANILA -- The Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) will conduct quarterly recognition to Local Government Units (LGUs) that will efficiently implement the Kalinga at Inisyatiba Para Sa Malinis na Bayan (KALINISAN) Program of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.

The KALINISAN program was launched on Saturday through a national simultaneous clean-up drive at Manila’s Baseco Compound, which coincides with the observance of the annual Community Development Day.

In his message, DILG Secretary Benjamin Abalos said they will make sure to monitor the performance of around 42,000 barangays across the country.

“Sa DILG, imo-monitor namin ang performance ng bawat barangay on a monthly basis, and quarlterly basis magkakaroon ng awarding ito…Tututukan talaga namin ito,” he said.

Abalos said the program would allow Filipinos to showcase the spirit of volunteerism while ensuring safe and healthy communities to live in.

He also urged all local chief executives to pass their respective ordinance that would require community service to individuals who will be caught littering.

Abalos further expressed hopes that more Filipinos will have the discipline to be more responsible in disposing their trash.

“Sana ma-achieve natin na hindi na kailangan mahuli, dapat may disiplina. Dapat may disiplina ang bawat isa na hindi ka na sitahin,” he said.

The national simultaneous clean-up drive was participated by various national government agencies and LGUs nationwide. (PND)
