TUBOD, Lanao del Norte (PIA)-- Some 38 families who were victims of the massive fire that ravaged the coastal barangay of Titunod in Kolambugan town on January 7, received food packs and non-food assistance from the provincial government.

Provincial Community Affairs Office Head Ma. Alma Villame said the relief operation for the affected households was immediately initiated after proper validation of the local government of Kolambugan, the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO), and the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office (PSWDO).

Among the goods delivered to each family were 10 kilos of rice, a dozen canned sardines, and non-food items like a basin, bowls, cooking pan and pot, comforter, blanket, mosquito net, banig, bucket, and storage box.

As per the record, the fire incident incurred 2 casualties, with 33 totally damaged houses and 5 partially damaged houses. These affected families are temporarily sheltered at the Kolambugan Municipal Gymnasium.

Moreover, Julie Ann Soria, barangay secretary of Titunod, also lost her house to the fire. She said they were not able to revive any of their belongings, but they are still grateful that they are safe and unharmed.

"Isip apil sa mga nabiktima sa nasampit na sunog, dako gyud ni na tabang ang gihatag na ayuda sa probinsya sa panguna ni Gov. Angging [Being one of the victims of the said fire incident, the assistance provided by the province under the leadership of Gov. Angging is truly a significant help]," Soria said.
