Ozamiz City launches operation timbang to promote sustainable nutrition, healthy living

OZAMIZ CITY, Misamis Occidental (PIA)-- To prioritize the well-being of its residents, the City Government of Ozamiz, through the City Nutrition Office, has initiated the annual "Operation Timbang Plus" (OPT Plus) in all 51 barangays of the city, aligned with the vision of Ozamiz City Mayor, Lawyer Indy F. Oaminal Jr., to foster sustainable nutrition for healthy and progressive Ozamiznons.

OPT Plus, a weight-and-height-taking activity organized in collaboration with the National Nutrition Council (NNC) and the Barangay Nutrition Scholars (BNS) of local government units (LGUs), kicked off this week. The operation aims to collect crucial data for nutrition program planning, identify beneficiaries for priority interventions, and evaluate the effectiveness of the local nutrition program.

The primary objective of Operation Timbang Plus is to gather comprehensive data that will serve as a foundation for informed decision-making in the city's nutrition programs. By assessing the weight and height of residents, the local government intends to determine specific needs, allocate resources efficiently, and implement targeted interventions for the improvement of overall community health.

The city government emphasized the importance of this annual activity, stating, "Sustainable nutrition is the cornerstone of a healthy and progressive community. Through Operation Timbang Plus, we not only collect essential data but also lay the groundwork for implementing effective strategies that address the unique nutritional needs of our residents."

The data collected during OPT Plus will aid in identifying individuals or groups requiring special attention, such as children, pregnant women, and the elderly. It will also assist in evaluating the impact of ongoing nutrition initiatives and guide future programs to ensure they align with the evolving needs of the community.

The City Nutrition Office encourages active participation from all residents, highlighting the community's role in making the program a success. By taking part in Operation Timbang Plus, Ozamiznons contribute directly to the creation of a healthier and more vibrant city.

As the operation progresses, the city government anticipates positive outcomes that will not only enhance the well-being of the residents but also solidify Ozamiz City's commitment to sustainable nutrition and a thriving community. (Asenso Daily News/PIA-10/Misamis Occidental)
