TUBOD, Lanao del Norte (PIA) -- The provincial government, through the Provincial Agriculture Office (PAO), distributed various agri-fishery livelihood support worth P4.8 million to farmers, fisherfolk, and women associations in this province.
The distribution was held at the Provincial Nursery Seed Farm in Kapatagan town, where beneficiaries from all municipalities representing different Rural Development Clubs (RIC) cooperatives and associations acquired new livelihood machines and tools for palapa processing, rubberized coolers, and chorizo and longganisa production.
The program was funded under the 20% Development Fund for CY 2023 and aims to give agri-fishery livelihood support to rural women, young farmers, and qualified associations and increase their production and income.
Fifteen beneficiaries received equipment for palapa processing like heavy-duty pressure cookers, food mixers, gas tanks, stoves, weighing scales, and stainless basins and trays.
Fifteen organizations also received four units of ice coolers each to help store their fresh produce. Meanwhile, four associations received longganisa and chorizo production machinery and equipment such as meat grinders, freezers, electric sausage stuffers, vacuum sealers, weighing scales, stainless basins and trays, cooking twine, and longganisa wrappers, among others.

On the same day, the PAO, headed by Engr. Jalandoni Piti-ilan, also spearheaded the distribution of 100 portable solar dryers from the Department of Science and Technology to selected beneficiaries.
Moreover, Elvis Jumalon, municipal agriculturist of Tubod, thanked the provincial government and Governor Imelda 'Angging' Quibranza-Dimaporo for the assistance extended to all farmer and fisherfolk beneficiaries.
"Ang mga munisipyo, uban sa among mga mag-uuma ug mangingisda, mapasalamaton kaayo sa provincial government, kay Governor Angging, nga naghatag namo ug mga makatabang na oportunities [The municipalities, along with our farmers and fishermen, are very grateful to provincial government, specifically Governor Angging, who provided us with opportunities]," Jumalon said.
Also present during the distribution program were Provincial Administrator and Legal Officer Lawyer Mark Christopher Babor and Sangguniang Panlalawigan Member and Committee Chairman on Agriculture, Board Member Reinario Bihag.
"Sana po ay ingatan natin ang mga livelihood tools and materials na ipinagkaloob sa inyo. These livelihood opportunities are not just limited to men, but also women na makatulong po sa pag increase ng income for the family [I hope that you take care of the livelihood tools and materials that have been given to you.
