MANILA -- President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. is all praises from Vietnamese leaders for his remarkable leadership with the Philippines posting high economic growth rates despite the global challenges in the world market.
“I would like to congratulate the Philippines on remarkable socio-economic, foreign policies, security and defense achievement under your able leadership. Since you assumed the presidency with a lot of breakthroughs such as for economic development,” Viet Nam President Vo Van Thoung said.
President Thoung made the remarks during his meeting with President Marcos in the recently concluded two-day state visit of the chief executive to Viet Nam, which is aimed at strengthening the bilateral ties of the two countries.
The Vietnamese chief executive also commended President Marcos for the fruitful outcome of the bilateral talks between the Philippines and Viet Nam.
For his part, Viet Nam Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh told President Marcos that they wanted to learn from his economic strategy and his leadership style that should be emulated by the Vietnamese leaders.
Prime Minister Pham met with President Marcos shortly after his meeting with Viet Nam President Thoung.
“I truly appreciate the role of Mr. President in promoting and creating traditions for businesses from the Philippines to grow and making contributions to the socio-economic development of the Philippines,” Prime Minister Pham said during his meeting with President Marcos.
“We admire your effort and we would like to learn from that lesson. And I would like to learn the experiences from President Marcos in managing the country,” the Prime Minister added as he expressed appreciation on the chief executive’s motivation to boost the Philippine economy.
In terms of trade and investment, Prime Minister Pham assured President Marcos that the Philippines and Viet Nam can foster deeper connectivity between the two countries’ economy as he emphasized that they are ready to listen to his recommendations.
National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue echoed the statements of Viet Nam President Thoung and Prime Minister Pham, commending the administration of President Marcos and his economic performance.
Hue also noted President Marcos made significant changes in the Philippine economy.
The Philippine economy grew by 5.6 percent year-on-year in the fourth quarter of 2023.
Among the major emerging economies in Asia that have already released their Q4 real GDP growth, the Philippines recorded the second fastest, following Viet Nam (6.7%), but ahead of China (5.2%) and Malaysia (3.4%).
The country’s economic growth is also higher than the forecast growth rates for Indonesia (5.0%), and Thailand (3.5%). (PND)
