TUBOD, Lanao del Norte (PIA) -- Twenty-four participants have completed the Leading Advocacy in the Marginalized Sector through DICT 10’s Program to Acquire Skills and Gain Employment (LAMDAG) training program.
The local government initiated the program to provide online job opportunities for graduates of Tubod College.
The Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT)-10 conducted the training, which consisted of four phases. The training covered digital literacy training such as computer and internet essentials, office productivity tools, Google Workspace, and English proficiency Training. Additionally, participants underwent Digital JobsPH Freelancing Training, involving a 12-day lecture and hands-on activities followed by a 15-day campaign period.
Mayor Dionisio ‘Jimmy’ Y. Cabahug, Jr., expressed gratitude to the program's facilitators, highlighting the valuable skills participants acquired and their significant contribution to the municipality's economic development.
Meanwhile, DICT-10 Regional Director Sittie Rahma V. Alawi conveyed her appreciation through a virtual message, thanking the local government and all organizers for their commitment to the project.
“Through this program, you have acquired valuable ICT skills, ranging from the fundamental to the advanced. These skills are not just technical knowledge; they are passports to opportunity, opening doors to employment, entrepreneurship, and a more connected life,” she said.
During the program, six participants were recognized as medalists for surpassing DICT's required income quota, while eight secured employment with online companies. In total, participants collectively earned over P140,000 throughout the training duration.
Lucille Reponte, one of the highest earners, shared her experience and expressed gratitude for the opportunities provided by the program. Despite challenges, she successfully secured jobs in graphic design, proofreading, and managing local business pages.
“Finding clients to earn as much as P5,000 to be a medalist really was hard until I was introduced to an organization that is based in Los Angeles, California, United States of America, and they gave me jobs tough enough for me to do, like proofreading articles for their website. I also joined 51Talk, and I managed the local business page of the Blue Jay Banquet Centre. I would like to thank the organizers for this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity,” she said.
Initiated in November 2023, the training aims to enhance ICT skills to boost employment within the community. 'LAMDAG,' a Visayan term that means 'light and brightness,' symbolizes the program's vision aligned with the 2023 agenda for Sustainable Development Goals (SDG), aiming to empower Filipinos for a brighter future through ICT.
