MARAWI CITY (PIA)--The Office of Civil Defense (OCD)-BARMM facilitated the distribution of financial assistance to families affected by the bombing incident at the MSU-Marawi Dimaporo Gymnasium on December 3, 2023
Led by the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR) in partnership with Mindanao State University - Marawi campus, Office of the Presidential Adviser on Peace, Reconciliation and Unity (OPAPRU), and the Provincial Government of Lanao Del Sur, the distribution took place at the Office of MSU President Conference Room, January 29, 2024.
The financial assistance was for the bereaved families of the four (4) deceased victims and the seven (7) severely injured individuals affected by the tragic incident. It is in addition to the financial assistance previously given by OPAPRU and the Lanao Del Sur Provincial Government.
OCD-BARMM Regional Director Joel Mamon conveyed hope for the healing and rehabilitation of the victims and their families, emphasizing community strength and courage. "Let us remember the strength and courage of our community. Together, we move forward towards reconciliation," he stated.
PAGCOR Assistant Vice President for Community Relations Eric Balcos reaffirmed their continued support to MSU and Lanao del Sur during the distribution.

OPAPRU Secretary Carlito G. Galvez Jr. assured justice for all victims and their families. He also announced the national government's commitment to mental health and psychosocial support.
He highlighted the formation of a counseling team and committed to strengthening the BARMM and local government units in maintaining peace and order across Mindanao.
Lanao Del Sur Governor Mamintal “Bombit” Adiong Jr. expressed his thanks to the agencies involved in aiding the bombing victims.
Lawyer Saaduddin Alauya, Jr., the university OIC and Vice Chancellor for Administration & Finance, also conveyed gratitude to the government agencies and officials for their steadfast support throughout the crisis.
Following the distribution ceremony, PAGCOR, OCD-BARMM, and the MSU-Marawi DRRMO visited the crime scene and the Amai Pakpak Medical Center to assess further needs and explore additional interventions to support the victims.
This initiative aligns with the guidance of the Department of National Defense Secretary and NDRRMC Chairperson Gilbert Teodoro and Civil Defense Administrator Undersecretary Ariel Nepomuceno to promptly provide aid and intensify efforts in the affected areas of BARMM.
