ARTA reports conviction of eight red tape cases

MANILA -- The Anti-Red Tape Authority (ARTA) is serious in quelling the anomalous transactions within government offices, having successfully prosecuted eight cases for this year alone.

“We have secured as of the very 2024, we have secured eight convictions, those cases have already been dismissed because, ang mandato po ng ARTA, we, after the investigation, we file it either to the Civil Service Commission or the Office of the Ombudsman,” ARTA Secretary Ernesto Perez said in a news forum in Quezon City on Saturday.

Perez said this development signifies ARTA’s resolve to streamlining and improving government processes.

Of the eight cases that secured conviction, five were from the Land Transportation Office (LTO), one from an undisclosed local government unit, one from the Bureau of Fire Protection, and another from the Philippine Statistics Office.

“It is the advantage of our people to give them the strong signal that there is an agency behind that is looking at their performance, that there is this agency that is serious about implementing the law that is conducting entrapment operations na para mahuli iyong mga fixer,” Perez said.

Perez further encouraged the public to lodge complains against offices and public servants who they think hinders the implementation of the Ease of Doing Business. (PND)
