The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) Oriental Mindoro is currently conducting the National Information and Communications Technology Household Survey (NICTHS), in partnership with the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT).
The NICTHS is part of the larger Digital Philippines initiative dedicated to providing every Filipino with access to vital ICT infrastructure and services. The enumeration period commenced on February 5, and will last until March 6, 2024.
Three statistical researchers are tasked to do the interview with the 390 sample households in selected city/municipalities of the province. To oversee and ensure collection of reliable data, regular personnel of the Provincial Statistical Office (PSO) of PSA serve as provincial focal persons for this survey operation, with one hired team supervisor.
The survey aims to provide data on household and individual indicators in the post-recovery period following the COVID-19 pandemic. It will also generate updated benchmarks for key ICT indicators that have seen a surge during the pandemic, as accelerated use of ICTs has been widely observed by households, individuals, government, and the private sector.
The data to be collected in the survey are the following: ICT use and access, ICT skills, digital economy or e-commerce, technology enabled incidents, e-waste, sim card registration and other indicators such as but not limited to functional difficulties due to health problems, artificial intelligence, and emergency and disaster preparedness, etc. Three questionnaires will be utilized in the survey, namely: Form 1 or the Barangay Questionnaire, Form 2 or the Household Questionnaire, and Form 3 or the Individual Questionnaire.
The PSA is committed to deliver relevant and reliable statistics. Hence, the agency encourages the public, especially the sample households and establishments to participate in the various censuses and surveys conducted by the PSA. The agency also assures that all collected personal information are processed in accordance with the law and other issuances. (PSA)
