The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Mimaropa, in collaboration with the Local Government of Magsaysay, Occidental Mindoro through the Kapit-Bisig Laban sa Kahirapan – Comprehensive and Integrated Delivery of Social Services (KALAHI-CIDSS) Additional Financing (AF) program, recently turned over a newly constructed Barangay Health Station (BHS) equipped with medical supplies and equipment in Sitio Bamban, Barangay Nicolas.

The construction of a health facility and provision of medical supplies and equipment for the BHS amounting to P3.5 million, sourced from the DSWD KALAHI-CIDSS AF Municipal Grant and local counterpart contribution from the municipal and barangay local government is expected to serve 356 households in the area that will significantly improve the access to basic medical services for the community.

The turnover ceremony was attended by key municipal officials and staff, including sangguniang bayan (SB) Members Hon. Bryan Paul DL. Santiago and Hon. Anna Angelica B. Sembillo, as well as municipal health officer Dr. Gerardo V. Agupitan Jr. and MSWD officer Maxima Obligar which also participated by barangay officials, community volunteers, and beneficiaries, symbolizing unity and partnership among program implementers and stakeholders.

Punong barangay Florante H. Jover expressed his gratitude for the establishment of the BHS, emphasizing its importance in providing accessible basic medical services to the constituents of Sitio Bamban and to the whole barangay. He credited the success of the project to the collaboration of field staff, community volunteers, and different stakeholders, underscoring the significance of collective effort in making the project a reality.
