MARAWI CITY (PIA) -- Access to clean and safe water supply in the towns of Kapai and Pualas in Lanao del Sur is poised for improvement following the signing of an agreement on February 21 between the Bangsamoro Government and local government units (LGU) to upgrade water supply systems.

The memorandum of agreement (MOA) outlines collaborative efforts to implement two projects: the Kapai-Marawi City-Tagoloan Level III Water Supply System Phase I and the Pualas Climate Resilient Level III Water Supply System with Treatment Facility projects.

BARMM Senior Minister Abunawas Maslamama believes these projects will help improve the quality of life of many Bangsamoro people in Kapai and Pualas.

“The BARMM Government is committed to working hard with LGUs to achieve the shared goal of providing access to clean and safe water for all. It greatly impacts communities, and we aim to replicate these projects in other LGUs,” he added.

Engr. Moharijin Ali, the Special Development Fund (SDF) Project Manager, emphasized the need for strong coordination in developing conflict-affected communities.

“We, the SDF-PMO, will closely monitor the progress of these projects and provide technical assistance to ensure their proper and timely implementation,” he stated.

Mayors Amanoden Ducol of Pualas and Aida Gauraki of Kapai expressed their gratitude for the BARMM government’s support, acknowledging its transformative impact on the town, especially on the economic aspect of the province.

“Thanks to your support and trust, the town of Pualas is poised to experience the realization of this water supply system,” Ducol remarked.

The partnership between BARMM and the LGUs signifies a milestone in providing essential services and fostering sustainable development in the region.

SDF is one of the readily available financing options of BARMM to fund priority development programs and projects under the Bangsamoro Development Plan of the Government of the Day. (BIO/PIA-10 Lanao del Sur)
