MANILA -- President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. told Filipinos in Australia to connect with their home country by visiting the Philippines and see for themselves the developments under the Bagong Pilipinas campaign.
“Let us always remember that the adage that is true, that home is where the heart is. So cherish your Filipino identity because in that way you remain connected to us, to the Philippines, no matter where you are,” President Marcos said during a meeting with the Filipino community in Melbourne, Australia.
“Before I end, let me invite you again to visit the Philippines soon and see for yourself the new Pilipinas, Ang Bagong Pilipinas. ‘Yan po ang aming itinataguyod. ‘Yan po ang aking ipinaglalaban ngayon,” he said.
President Marcos also told Filipinos in Australia to embrace and celebrate their Filipino heritage, pass on the love for the Philippines to their children, grandchildren, and to all the generation that follows.
He called on them to teach the young generation of Filipinos about the Philippines, its heroes, and its beautiful tourist spots.
“Iuwi n’yo muna sa Pilipinas para makita nila ang ibig n’yong sabihin. Siguro hindi nila naaalala ‘yung mga bayani ng Pilipinas, hindi nila alam ‘yung mga lugar na sinasabi natin at simpleng simple lang, makikita nila kung gaano kaganda ang pinakamagandang bansa sa buong mundo, ang Pilipinas,” he stated.
Inspired by the successes of Filipinos in foreign land, President Marcos said his government remains committed to improving life and livelihood for every Filipino wherever they may be.
The Philippine economy now is thriving, marked by good growth, optimistic forecasts, record highs in employment, tourism, and manufacturing, he told Filipinos in Melbourne.
And with the active participation of all sectors of society, including and especially overseas Filipinos, the administration is on track to achieve its agenda for social and economic transformation, he added.
Australia serves as the second home to at least 408,000 Filipinos and Australians of Filipino descent.
Marcos arrived Sunday in Australia to participate in the 50th Australia-ASEAN Special Summit. (PND)
