CALOOCAN CITY (PIA) -- The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) hold a press briefing on the situation in the affected areas of STS ‘Paeng’ on Saturday, October 29, 2022.
Based on the report, a total of 184,161 individuals or 49, 767 families in Regions V, VI, VII, IX, XI, XII, CARAGA, and BARMM have been affected by this weather disturbance. The total displaced population is 8,247 persons or 2,211 families who are currently taking temporary shelter inside and outside the various evacuation centers.
Meanwhile, the number of validated casualties reported as of the latest is 45 dead, 33 were injured and 18 are still missing.
Various areas were also reported to be flooded while some roads and bridges are not passable. Due to the issuance of Tropical Cyclone Wind Signals in the different parts of the country, there are a total of 585 seaports in CALABARZON, MIMAROPA, Region V, VI, VIII, and XI that have suspended operations leaving 3,072 passengers, 880 rolling cargoes and 73 vessels stranded in various ports.
Moreover, 280 damaged houses have been recorded while the amount of damage in agriculture in Region XII is estimated to be at P54.5 million.
