GOOD NEWS: The Philippines consistently made significant progress in its functional literacy rate with almost 91.6% or 9 out of 10 Filipinos can read, write and compute in the year 2019.
Considering the improvements in literacy, the #LiteracyCoordinatingCouncil has identified gaps in the classrooms and student performances which is aimed to be addressed by the National Literacy Framework that identifies skills and competencies which can be applied to the world of work and the 21st century living.
As part of the Department of Education (DepEd) – MA.TA.TA.G Agenda, MA-king the curriculum relevant to produce job-ready, active, and responsible citizens is one of the main goal to make a stronger education system in the country.
With the National Framework we can know what we need to push more in promoting LITERACY in the Philippines.
