DUMAGUETE CITY, Negros Oriental, July 2 (PIA) -- The Dumaguete City Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) has signified its willingness to help the COVID-19 vaccination rollout in the city to accelerate the inoculation of qualified residents.
SK President Renz Macion presented the proposal to the Emergency Operations Center on how his members could help boost the education campaign to increase the uptake of COVID-19 vaccines among the residents.
Macion said this is also to dispel the misinformation surrounding the said vaccines.
The SK members are also expected to help the frontliners manage the crowd or vaccinees at the vaccination posts, as well as assist in the registration aside from helping those who are wheelchair-bound and running urgent errands for those in need.
City Health Officer Dr. Maria Sarah Talla and Public Information Officer Katherine Therese Aguilar will be coordinating with Macion for the deployment of the volunteers to the vaccination sites in the city.
As of July 1, about 9,000 residents were already vaccinated, specifically 1,101 medical frontliners (A1); 5,210 senior citizens (A2); and 2, 688 persons with co-morbidities (A3). (JCT/PIA Negros Oriental)
