Dgte eyes university campus as vax site

DUMAGUETE CITY, Negros Oriental, July 6 (PIA) -- Dumaguete City is expected to open another vaccination site inside Foundation University campus offered by the school’s management to help the city government in its vaccination rollout.

City Health Officer (CHO) Dr. Maria Sarah Talla said both her office and the Department of Health already evaluated the proposed vaccination post inside the campus of Foundation University.

Talla said this in response to the directive of Mayor Felipe Antonio Remollo to open additional vaccination posts to accommodate more eligible residents even as authorities are trying to control the spread of COVID-19.

Presently, there are two functioning vaccination posts in Pulantubig Gymnasium and Robinsons Mall.

On June 2, the CHO has already started vaccinating residents under the A4 category (frontline personnel in essential sectors, including uniformed personnel) while the immunization of those belonging to A1 (medical frontliners), A2 (senior citizens), and A3 (persons with comorbidities) continues.

Local authorities are reminding both residents and non-residents to avoid unnecessary travels to and from Dumaguete City while it is under Modified Enhanced Community Quarantine.

The Philippine National Police, Barangay Public Safety Officers, and health marshals are tasked to set quarantine control posts to regulate the movement of vehicles and persons.

This is to ensure that the travels are essential and comply with the minimum health standards such as wearing of face masks and social distancing. (JCT/PIA Negros Oriental)
