Dgte adds P24.9M to COVID-19 response funds

DUMAGUETE CITY, Negros Oriental, July14 (PIA) -- The Dumaguete City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (DRRMC) has endorsed a proposed budget of P24.9 million to fund various expenses required for COVID-19 response and mitigation.

The source of funds for the proposed budget will be charged against the unobligated and unexpended balance of the 2020 Local Disaster Risk Reduction Management Fund.

Since the start of the pandemic, all COVID-19 positive cases and their close contacts in the 30 barangays have been provided with food by the city’s community kitchen for the entire time that they are under isolation or quarantined.

Food rations are also provided to COVID-19 frontliners in the quarantine control points/checkpoints, health marshals, drivers and support staff deployed daily and beyond office hours to manage and enforce the protocols to prevent the spread of coronavirus.

The city's COVID-19 Emergency Operations Center (EOC) will also utilize said fund to procure the communication tools, human resources, equipment, backup power sources, and service vehicles.

The city has maintained an EOC to harmonize and make efficient the response actions during the COVID-19 pandemic and other emergencies related to it. (JCT/PIA7 Negros Oriental)
