Lanao del Sur administers over 40,000 COVID-19 vaccine doses

MARAWI CITY, Lanao del Sur (PIA)--Lanao del Sur has administered 40,903 doses of coronavirus disease (Covid)-19 vaccines as of Sunday, July 18, according to the Integrated Provincial Health Office (IPHO).

Of the figure, 25,204 doses were first jabs while 15,699 were second shots. Those vaccinated include frontline health workers (A1), senior citizens (A2), adults with co-morbidities (A3), and frontline workers in essential sectors (A4).

Based on IPHO data, some 11,726 doses were administered to the A1 priority group; 8,278 to A2; 13,945 to A3, and 6,954 to A4.

Among the 39 municipalities of the province, Wao registered the most number of doses administered with 2,692 followed by Malabang with 1,118.

The IPHO vaccination rollout for A1, A2, and A3 continues this week at the Provincial Bakuna Center (July 19) and in selected municipalities. These are Madalum, Madamba, Gannasi, and Pualas on July 21; Lumbaca Unayan, Tamparan, Ditsaan-Ramain, and Bubong on July 22; and Bacolod Kalawi and Marantao on July 23.

Meanwhile, IPHO chief Dr. Alinader Minalang warned Lanao del Sur residents against being complacent now that the province has been placed under modified general community quarantine (MGCQ).

"Bagamat nasa MGCQ tayo, wag tayong magbigay ng kumpiyansa lalo’t may naiulat na Delta variant na nakita sa kalapit lugar na Cagayan de Oro. Itong bagong variant ay mas mabilis makahawa at mas nakakamatay," he said.

[Although we are in MGCQ, let us not be complacent especially that there is a reported Delta variant seen in the nearby area of Cagayan de Oro. This new variant is faster to infect and more deadly.]

The number of confirmed Covid-19 cases in the province as of July 18 totaled 2,790 of which 2,619 patients have recovered while 102 have died.

The number of active cases, on the other hand, was tallied at 69 after 16 new cases and 10 recoveries were registered on Sunday. Forty-eight (48) of the active cases were distributed in 13 municipalities of the province while 21 were in 10 barangays of Marawi City. In terms of clinical status, 49 are asymptomatic, 11 are with mild symptoms, seven (7) moderate, and two are in severe conditions. (APB/PIA-ICIC)
