Dgte administers over 34K vax doses to 19,526 residents

DUMAGUETE CITY, Negros Oriental, Aug. 16 (PIA) -- The Dumaguete City Health Office has already administered 34,065 doses of COVID-19 vaccines to 19,526 qualified residents using Sinovac, Astrazeneca, Janssen and Moderna vaccines as of Aug. 14.

About 300 individuals received their COVID-19 jabs in the two vaccination sites at Pulantubig Gym and Robinson Place on Aug. 14 including those who returned to get their 2nd dose. 

Of the 30 barangays in the city, 15 reported zero COVID-19 case while the rest are managing just one or two active cases as of Aug. 15.

City Health Officer Dr. Maria Sarah Talla said the number of active COVID-19 cases declined to 49 cases from a peak of 651 in mid-June.

The number of hospitalized COVID-19 patients also dropped to 20 whose conditions required admission.

Mayor Felipe Antonio Remollo reiterated the need for the public to follow the health protocols as welll as accelerate the vaccination of eligible population to prevent another surge of cases especially with the threat of the more contagious Delta variant.
