Lanao del Norte SK highlights projects for distance learning

ILIGAN CITY (PIA)--The Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) Federation in Lanao del Norte cited projects that benefited learners in their community amid the pandemic.

Provincial SK Federation Pres. Dahlia Cristobal-Garcia, in an interview with Presidential Communications Operations Office Sec. Martin Andanar during the PCOO Network Briefing News (NBN) Tuesday, August 17, said that SK Federations in the province provided bond papers and other supplies to support distance learning of learners.

“We are always thinking of so many ways to help our teachers, especially our learners. Most municipalities were giving both public and private schools [with bond papers] para kahit papano makatulong sa pagprint ng [to at least help in printing] modules, while others have given school supplies for the scholarship programs,” she said.

Some barangays in the province also offer scholarships to indigent students. Garcia said that under her barangay, free tuition fee is offered to students who are in Grade 7 to 10. At the end of the school year, the school will evaluate the performance of the scholars if they are doing well.

To avail of this program, interested students should acquire their certificate of residency from the barangay hall and will proceed to the enrolment process to their schools. The SK will then process the payment for the tuition fee.

Garcia also noted the importance of learning continuity despite the pandemic. She called on students to pursue their studies and dreams.

“Be diligent to study and learn despite the pandemic. Huwag gawing dahilan ang pandemya para hindi matuto at matupad ang pangarap sa buhay [Don’t use pandemic as an excuse to not learn and fulfill your dreams],” she said.

The SK president also encouraged the public to get the coronavirus disease 2019 vaccine. (LELA/PIA ICIC)
