ILIGAN CITY (PIA)--A vice mayor in one of the municipalities of Lanao del Sur underscored the vital role of the youth sector in nation-building especially in the fight against terrorism and coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19).

In an episode of Network Briefing News with PCOO Sec. Martin Andanar, Piagapo vice mayor Ali Sumandar said Sangguniang Kabataan Federation in Piagapo has been helpful in the information drive to combat the spread of Covid-19. 

"May programa itong SK natin na nangangampanya din regarding sa pagsunod sa mga minimum health standards at pinupuntahan nila ang bawat barangay sa lungsod ng Piagapo," he said.

[Our SK has a program that also campaigns regarding compliance with minimum health standards and they visit every barangay in Piagapo.]

Sumandar said they have conducted series of activities through the SK Federation such as tree planting and symposiums to counter and prevent violent extremism among the youth.

The vice mayor further said the municipal government is working hand-in-hand with the community including the youth in the fight against terrorism and illegal activities in Piagapo.

Meanwhile, Sumandar called on his constituents to support the different programs of both the national and local government stressing that these programs are all for the betterment of their lives and for the development of the municipality. (APB/PIA-ICIC)
