Claveria SK continues youth initiatives despite pandemic

MISAMIS ORIENTAL (PIA)--Despite the coronavirus disease (COVID)-19 pandemic disrupting their usual youth-oriented activities, the Sangguniang Kabataan of Claveria continues its initiatives in guiding the youth of their community to find the right equilibrium in youth empowerment and adherence to minimum health safety protocols.

“Sa pagka karon kanunay gyud ang rekorida ug pagpahibalo sa mga tao diri sa barangay na likayan lang gyud usa ang pag tapok-tapok labi na gyud ang pag sunod sa health protocol nga gi implementar sa IATF,” said Brgy. Panampawan Claveria SK Chairman Rolito Estrada during the CORDS-X podcast with Communications Secretary Martin Andanar, August 28.

[As for now we are constant in our ‘recorida’ and informing the people of our barangay to avoid mass gatherings and to always follow health protocols implemented by the IATF.]

Utilizing social media alongside ‘recoridas’ to spread the right information, Estrada shares that in addition to their COVID-19 mitigation and vaccination campaigns, they are also conducting youth-oriented activities such as their “Adolosecence Sexuality and Reproductive Health: Teenage Pregnancy Symposium" and house-to-house feeding program for undernourished children to ensure that the youth of their community are not neglected.

Further, the SK assisted the youth in their registrations for the upcoming National Elections and supported the COMELEC in the conduct of satellite registration in their area as part of their efforts to urge the youth in exercising their right to suffrage.

Overcoming the challenges wrought by the pandemic, the SK of Brgy. Panampawan remains steadfast as it implements its youth-oriented initiatives alongside health protocols for the betterment of its community.

“Kinahanglan magbinantayon gyud kita, follow gyud kita sa health protocol labi na ang pagsuot sa atong mask, paghugas ug kamot kanunay, ug kinahanglan padayon kita sa atong tinguha bahalag ania kuning COVID-19," he said.

[We have to be very careful, we have to follow the health protocol especially to wear our mask, wash our hands regularly, and we have to continue our desire to be protected here with COVID-19.] (VPSB/PIA Misamis Oriental)
