NUNUNGAN, Lanao del Norte(PIA)--Municipal Mayor Marcos Mamay emphasized that the municipality here is already peaceful with his administration alongside the provincial government taking measures to maintain peace and order.
He shared during the Network Briefing News Wednesday, October 13, that while the town has already stepped out from being tagged as the rido (family feud) capital of the province to being an orderly municipality.
“When it comes to peace and order, iyan ang pinakamalaking concern natin sa Nunungan [that is our major concern in Nunungan]. In fact, Nunungan had been named as the rido capital sa buong Lanao del Norte. Sa ngayon, sa administrasyon natin, nagawan natin ng paraan maging peaceful ang Nunungan ngayon [Currently, in our administration, we have made a way to make Nunungan peaceful now],” he said.
Mamay mentioned that since 2016, countless ridos were already resolved through the effort of provincial leaders, particularly Governor Imelda Quibranza-Dimaporo.
Now, the mayor emphasized that he and his officials are doing their best to maintain peace and order in their area.
He stressed that their mission to establish peace in their area is anchored on philosopher Mahatma Gandhi’s wisdom, positing that development is the new language of peace.
With this, they recognized that there will be no development when there is no peace and vice versa, and this urged them to bring in advancement to pave way for more progress.
“Walang mangyayaring development kung walang peace and order. Inuna natin iyong development by believing that after the development, this will pave way to other developments like peace and order at ibang projects na ibibigay ng government kasi walang mangyayari kapag hindi peaceful ang lugar,” said Mamay.
[There will be no development if there is no peace and order. We prioritized the development by believing that after development, this will pave the way to other developments like peace and order and other more projects to be given by the government because nothing will happen if the place is not peaceful.]
As of the latest, the town sees the completion of ongoing infrastructure projects including the concreting of road networks, and construction of a municipal gymnasium, evacuation and operation center, school building, cultural center, and hospital, among others. (CRG/PIA-Lanao del Norte)
