Dgte ramps up vax in Foundation University, children

DUMAGUETE CITY, Negros Oriental, Nov. 8 (PIA) -- Mayor Felipe Antonio Remollo announced the third vaccination site in Foundation University to accelerate the vaccination rollout especially the start of inoculating children.

This is also essential to hire more health workers to serve more eligible residents.

Remollo said with the additional vaccination site, the city aims to achieve herd immunity before the year ends provided the supplies of vaccines continue to arrive.

Recently, the city received 50,000 doses of Pfizer vaccines.

The mayor said more than 85,000 COVID-19 jabs have already been administered to nearly 50,000 eligible residents.

Meanwhile, City Health Officer Dr. Maria Sarah Talla also encouraged parents with children who are 12 to 17 years old with comorbidities to register online or through their barangay nurses so they can be vaccinated by the pediatricians at the Negros Oriental Provincial Hospital using Pfizer vaccines from the City Health Office.

Around 84,186 doses of COVID-19 vaccines have already been administered to 48,540 eligible residents using Sinovac, Astrazeneca, Moderna, Sinopharm, Pfizer, and Janssen jabs as of Oct. 30. (JCT/PIA7 Negros Oriental)
