DUMAGUETE CITY, Negros Oriental, Feb. 17 (PIA) -- A total of 194 couples tied the knot in a civil mass wedding rite during a post-Valentine’s Day event at the Pantawan People’s Park here.
Hundreds of people witnessed the "Kasalang Bayan 2022" including the respective families and friends of the couples.
Mayor Felipe Antonio Remollo officiated the wedding ceremony to legitimize the union of couples, including common law partners, for free.
Through the donations of generous private entities, free wedding rings, cakes and other surprises were given to the newly-wed couples.
Celebrity actor Ian Veneracion, Remollo, and other local talents performed during the ceremony.
Remollo thanked the donors and their partners for their generosity and the industry of the sponsors for their contribution to the activity.
A grand fireworks display sponsored by the mayor capped the mass wedding ceremony. (JCT/PIA7 Negros Oriental)
