EL SALVADOR, Misamis Oriental (PIA)—The Commission on Elections (COMELEC)-10, Philippine National Police, Armed Forces of the Philippines, religious leaders, Department of Education (DepEd)-10, and aspiring political candidates led the unity walk and peace covenant signing among candidates vying for positions here, February 28.
“In the long history of Philippine politics, the upholding and dignifying of the democratic process and good governance is paramount to each and everyone to the point that one must portray to the public the quality of a model, an example, and morally upright person worthy of their post in trust and confidence,” said COMELEC-10 Regional Election Director Francisco Pobe.
The Unity Walk started at the El Salvador City sports complex at around 6:00 a.m. and culminated at the same area where the peace covenant signing was also held.
Candidates for governor, vice-governor, and city councilors attended the event. Governor Yevgeny 'Bambi' Emano, Cagayan de Oro City Mayor Oscar Moreno, District Representative Misamis Oriental 2nd District Juliette Uy, and other provincial, district candidates showed up.

The COMELEC-10 chief stressed the importance of a dignified, safe, and fair campaign period where candidates are spared from personal attacks and any acts of violence.
For their part, 4th Infantry “Diamond” Division (4ID) representative General Ferdinand T. Barandon and Police Regional Office (PRO)-10 Regional Director Benjamin Acorda Jr. expressed their stern support in working alongside the COMELEC and aspiring candidates in ensuring a secure campaign period in the new normal.
