Siquijor PNP launches KASIMBAYANAN for May polls

SIQUIJOR, Siquijor, Feb. 18 (PIA) -- As part of its security preparations for the upcoming national and local elections, the Siquijor Police Provincial Office (SPPO) launched on Feb. 16 the KASIMBAYANAN or Kawani, Simbahan at Pamayanan with the Signing of the Pledge of Commitment to declare the stakeholders’ support for non-partisan and peaceful elections.

SPPO Acting Provincial Director Robert Ligbawan said KASIMBAYANAN was launched as a joint effort of the Philippine National Police with the religious sectors and government and non-government agencies to ensure a Secure Accurate, Free and fair elections (SAFE) in May 2022.

Aside from the signing of the Pledge of Commitment, it was highlighted with the lighting of the SAFE Candles and pinning of SAFE 2022 Pin participated in by various leaders of government and non-government agencies, religious sectors, advocacy groups, stakeholders, aspirant candidates and Philippine National Police (PNP) Personnel.

Atty. Elizero R Z.B Labaria, Provincial Election Supervisor IV hopes that with the launching of KASIMBAYANAN for SAFE National and Local 2022 Elections, the candidates are encouraged to follow the election guidelines.


Among those who pledged to extend support are Rev. Msgr. Ramon L. Duran, Vicar Forane of St. Paul Vicariate in Siquijor under the Diocese of Dumaguete and Pastor Jephunneh Tabotabo from the religious sector.


The ceremony ended with the releasing of white doves by the PNP, Comelec, Parish Pastoral Council for Responsible Voting (PPCRV) and other stakeholders. (RAC/PIA7-Siquijor with reports from Everlita Calibo/SAID)
