DUMAGUETE CITY, Negros Oriental, May 6 (PIA) -- Department of Tourism (DOT) Sec. Bernadette Romulo-Puyat has expressed her gratitude to the tourism business owners for generously allowing their establishments to serve as quarantine facility for Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) and medical frontliners at the height of the pandemic in 2020.
Some 29 establishments, transportation companies, and individuals who helped the City Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Infectious Diseases in controlling the spread of COVID-19 were recognized by the Dumaguete City government on May 4.
In the same event, Puyat, in a pre-recorded message, also commended the city for properly managing the health crisis.
Dumaguete City Mayor Felipe Antonio Remollo paid tribute to the cooperation and active participation of the COVID-19 frontliners and service providers to prevent the spread of the virus in the community by enforcing the health protocols, isolation and quarantine rules and travel requirements.
This, the mayor said, resulted in the attainment of zero active cases and the downgrading of the city's status from Alert Level 2 to Alert Level 1.
City Tourism Officer Jacqueline Antonio said the city, through Resolution No. 103 of the Sangguniang Panglungsod, recognizes 29 accommodation establishments, travel services, and individuals in the tourism sector who best responded to the LGU's call for logistics help amid the COVID-19 lockdown in the city.
Among those recognized, particularly in the tourism sector, are the representatives and managements of C & L Bayview Inn, C & L Suites Inn, Grand Pension House, One Bethany Place, Southview Hotel, Bethel Guest House, Bricks Hotel, Florentina Homes, RM Guest House, Dumaguete Royal Suite Inn, Rovira Suites, Hotel Essencia, La Casona Hotel, Crisfil’s Lodge, Optimum Pension House, Aberisse Pension Hotel, Dino Residences, Sulit Budget Hotel, Casa Rubin, Moriah Pension Inn, Quantum Dlux Tours Services, Vallacar Transit Inc., Maayo Shipping Inc., Phillipine Airlines, Royhle AirWay Charter Inc., TS Tours Services, Miben Lordito D. Deguit, Amy B. Miro, and Maria Lalaine R. Ponla.
With Dumaguete City under Alert Level 1, more activities and events are allowed, face-to-face classes have returned, and the local economy is gradually recovering. (JCT/PIA7 Negros Oriental)
