Celebrate Pride Month with National Museum



QUEZON CITY (PIA) -- Join the National Museum of Philippines (NMP) as they advocate for the rights of the LGBTQIA+ community this June.

For this year’s Pride Month, NMP will conduct online and in person activities such as film showings, webinar, and museum tour. 
Here are the activities announced by the NMP:

Esoterika: Maynila by Director Elwood Perez 

The film revolves around the life of budding graphic novelist Mario/Galogo as he explores the bizarre and dangerous world of the art scene in Manila.

Starring Ronie Liang, Boots Anson-Roa, and Vince Tañada, the Elwood Perez and Jessica Zafra written film was released back in 2014.

The film showing will be at the auditorium if the National Museum of Fine Arts from June 13-17.

Limited to 50 viewers per session, the NMP will hold two sessions per day at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m.

This is a film showing recommended for those who are 16 years old and above.

Bahaghari: Understanding SOGIESC and the Protection in Philippine Law Webinar 

A webinar on June 20 with the goal of understanding and realizing that sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression, and sex characteristics (SOGIESC), as well as the right to self-determination, are fundamental foundations of universal human rights.

The two workshops aim to uphold the dignity of all LGBTQIA+ community members with acknowledgement, respect, and acceptance. 

Morning session with Mx. Giano Ray C. Potes of the University of the Philippines Diliman Gender Office will start at 8:30 a.m., while the afternoon session at 1 p.m for the SOGIESC protection in the Philippine Law by Atty. Luis Jose F. Geronimo.

Pride Tour at the Museum

This is a simultaneous special guided tour for LGBTQIA members at the National Museum of Fine Arts, Anthropology, and Natural History on June 22, Wednesday.

At the end of the tour, three participants will be awarded as NMP’s Best in Pride Month Outfit 2022.
