Cagayan United Doctors holds tree planting

TUGUEGARAO CITY, Cagayan (PIA) - - The Cagayan United Doctors Medical Center (CUDMC) in coordination with PENRO Cagayan Sub-Office conducted a tree planting activity today at the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) Callao Reforestation Project in Peñablanca town this province.

CUDMC Administrative Manager Jonathan Barangan (3rd from right holding Narra seedling) together with Doctors Angel Cayetano (extreme right), Gerardo Florendo, and CUDMC staff during the tree planting activity.

Administrative Manager Jonathan Barangan led the 52 employees of CUDMC and planted 500 indigenous species of Narra (Pterocarpus indicus) and Ipil (Intsia bijuga) seedlings at the site.

"We do this tree planting activity to support the National Greening program of the DENR and in compliance also with the terms and conditions of our ECC permit issued by the EMB-Environmental Management Bureau. I think we will do this tree planting activity every year thereafter as part of our social responsibility,” Barangan said.

He said planting trees in ecologically appropriate areas can counteract soil and biodiversity loss and also help minimize climate change.

The Callao Reforestation Project in Peñablanca town has 70 hectares and was started in 2018 under the National Greening Program of DENR.

CUDMC joined the nation in celebration of Philippine Environment Month this June with the theme, “Aksyon Para sa Natatanging Mundo”. (OTB/ADS/ PIA Region 2)
