ZAMBOANGA CITY, Jan. 30 (PIA) – Zamboanga City Mayor John Dalipe led the city government's SIM registration campaign by opening and setting up booths within the city hall to encourage more Zamboangeños to register their SIM (subscribers identity module) card numbers.

“We would like to commend the SIM registration act of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., para man stop ya el scam and mal actividades. Tan encourage kita con el di atun mga vivientes para hinde man deactivate for the safety of all,” Mayor Dalipe said.

(We would like to commend the sim registration act of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., to stop scam and crime activities, we encourage all our residents to register to avoid deactivation of their sim and for the safety of everyone against crime activities.)

One of the initiatives of the city government is allowing the telecommunication companies to put up a registration booth in the city hall office to encourage more mobile phone users to register their sim cards. The city government invites other telco companies to provide their services in the local government offices as they are allowing to set up their booths in the offices especially in public places.

The National Telecommunication Commission in Region 9 (NTC-9) provides assistance services to telco companies and local government units to fast track the sim registration and to ensure that every mobile number users will be registered especially in far-flung areas with limited source of network and internet signals.

Register your SIM cards and eSIMs now through the official links of our PTEs:

Zamboanga City also accommodates the residents in island barangays during the nationwide launching of SIM registration on January 26, 2023. Some of the residents expressed their gratitude for the support and assistance given to the island barangays as they experience intermittent signal connection in their area.

NTC-9 Regional Director Jurmobin Baddiri encourages more SIM card users to register before the deadline on April 26, 2023.

“This is important because it aims to avoid and lessen [cyber] crimes and fraud that is slowly spreading in the country,” Dir. Baddiri emphasized.

Furher, NTC also advises users to register earlier to avoid traffic in the telco websites on deadline. SIM Cards that will not be registered will be deactivated after the registration deadline. (RVC/MLE/PIA9-Zamboanga City)
