PRO6 celebrates PNP's 32nd founding anniv

ILOILO CITY (PIA) -- The Police Regional Office (PRO) 6 recently celebrated the 32nd Foundation Anniversary of the Philippine National Police (PNP) at Camp Martin Teofilo B Delgado, here.

In a press release, PRO6 Regional Public Information Office chief Police Major Mary Grace Socorro Borio noted that the celebration was held on February 13, coinciding with the PRO 6 regular flag-raising ceremony, and was graced by Iloilo 4th District representative Ferjenel G. Biron as the guest of honor and speaker.

In his speech, Biron congratulated PRO6 and the PNP on its anniversary along with the awardees for a job well done, and reminded all the uniformed personnel to serve with integrity for the fulfilment of their mandate to serve God and the country.

“We, public servants, must unite and help each other in any way we can to effectively perform the mandate of our offices, and better serve our people for God and for the country,” he said.

As one of the highlights of the event, PRO6 awarded medals to deserving PNP personnel.

There were four awardees for the Medalya ng Kadakilaan, namely  Police Lieutenant Colonel Jesus Mesahon and Police Staff Sergeant John Michael Abao of San Carlos City Police Office for the successful conduct of a buy-bust operation at Sitio Tul-ang Brgy. Rizal, 

San Carlos City in Negros Occidental on June 14, 2022, which resulted in the arrest of Rex Baron Villamin, a high-value individual (HVI) for illegal drugs; and Police Major Rommel Anicete and Police Captain Soliman, both members of Regional Police Drug Enforcement Unit, for the successful conduct of a buy-bust operation at Sito Dapdap, Brgy. Lantad, Silay City in Negros Occidental on August 26, 2022, which resulted in the arrest of Angie Aguilar Dumdumaya and Angielyn Aguilar Dumdumaya, both HVIs.

Meanwhile, Medalya ng Kagalingan was awarded to Police Major Myles Dieron of Cabatuan Municipal Police Station in Iloilo province for the successful arrest of wanted persons - Joan Lego y Vicente, co-Leader of Lebuna–Lego Criminal Gang and Maylin Araneta V Canja – at Brgy. Acao, Cabatuan, Iloilo on September 8, 2022, for the crime of Robbery with force upon things, Robbery with violence against or intimidation of persons, theft, and violation of the new Anti-Carnapping Act of 2016.

The same award was given to Police Major Renato Monreal II and Police Staff Sergeant Godfrey Lamprea of Sibalom Municipal Police Station and Antique Provincial Intelligence Unit, respectively, for the successful service of a warrant of arrest against Raymund Paner Naman also known as “Panen,” a top 2 Most Wanted Person–Regional Level, at Brgy. Tog-amagan, Miag-ao, Iloilo on July 3, 2022.

Further, a Medalya ng Papuri was accorded to Alain E. Resano, a non-uniformed personnel of the PRO6 Regional Accounting Office, by going

beyond the call of duty through the “Bridging Help Project” of Oton Municipal Police Station where he contributed P10,000.00 and able to award to Negre family a small Pabahay, livestock, pack of commodities and emergency lights on July 6, 2023.

PRO6 also gave cash assistance and a token to Ivy Rose Espanto, the wife of PRO6’s fallen hero, Police Captain Efren Espanto Jr.

Meanwhile, a Wreath Laying Ceremony followed at Brigadier General Teofilo B. Delgado’s monument in front of the PRO6 administration building. Joining Biron in the wreath laying were PRO6 regional director Police Brigadier General Leo M. Francisco and the wife of Espanto Jr. 

Then, a turnover ceremony of 45 light motorcycles and ordnance items was conducted. These include 600 units of 9mm pistol striker fired rex delta, 10 units of 5.56mm light machine gun NEGE, 30,000 rounds of ammunition for 9mm pistol, and 10,000 rounds of 5.56mm LMG (light machine Gun).

“These equipment are expected to ease the burden that the recipient units and offices faced in delivering quality service despite the deficiency in logistics. Ang pagbigay ng mga motor at baril ay may kaakibat na responsibilidad sa komunidad na mas mapaganda ang serbisyo ng ating mga kapulisan,” Francisco said during the turnover of vehicles and equipment.

The 32nd PNP founding anniversary is celebrated with the theme “Patuloy na serbisyong publiko, Handog ng Pambasang Kapulisan na may Malasakit, Kaayusan, At Kapayapaan tungo sa Kaunlaran ng ating bayan.” (JBG/FRG/PIA6/Story and photos from PRO6-RPIO)
