SIQUIJOR, Siquijor, Feb. 17 (PIA) -- The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) here led the 33rd Civil Registration Month celebration with a series of activites with the theme: “PSA @ 10:  Providing Efficient and Effective Civil Registration and Vital Statistics through Digital Transformation.”

This gives emphasis on carrying out the mandates of civil registration and providing vital statistics through digital means.

In her report, PSA Siquijor Information Officer Rizalyn Teodora Postrado said Civil Registration takes center stage every February pursuant to Proclamation No. 682 issued by then Pres. Corazon Aquino on Jan. 28, 1991, declaring February as the Civil Registration Month. 

She shared that PSA, as the agency mandated to carry out the provisions of Act No. 3753,  leads this month-long celebration together with the Local Civil Registry Offices (LCROs) in all cities and municipalities in the country. 

It aims to promote public awareness on the importance of Civil Registration in the lives of every Filipino. 

This will further enhance appreciation of the legal, administrative and statistical values of civil registry documents.

In the province of Siquijor, several activities were planned, such as a provincial conference with the Municipal Civil Registrars to discuss Civil Registration services, Data Dissemination Forum for vital statistics, and lectures regarding “Civil Registration System of the Philippines," said Postrado. 

Local Civil Registrars Office (LCROs) and government offices in the province are also encouraged to hang streamers bannering this year's theme.
