LARENA, Siquijor, March 12 (PIA) --The local government unit (LGU) of Larena earned the Seal of Good Local Governance (SGLG) on Dec. 15, 2022.
LArena is the only LGU in Siquijor Province to receive the award.
This was announced by the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG), during the Siquijor Association of Information Disseminators (SAID) Pulong-Pulong conducted recently with the Philippine Information Agency (PIA) here.
"Larena was also one of the six LGUs in Region 7 that passed the assessment and also got the Lupong Tagapamayapa Incentives Award for demonstrating an exemplary performance in 2022," added DILG Information Officer Shelton Dandoy.
The stakeholders planned to conduct a province-wide orientation on the proposed indicators based on the November 2022 SGLG workshop outputs this year to prepare the six municipalities for the 2023 assessment.
The orientation was set on Feb. 28 at Bethel Guest House, Dumaguete City with LGU department heads and local chief executives (LCEs).
Another activity set for 2023 is the Child-Friendly Local Governance Audit, a mandatory audit system that measures local government performance in the delivery of services that regenerate positive results for children.
A two-day Regional Project Monitoring and Evaluation System (RPMES) reorientation was also scheduled on Feb. 22-23, 2023 at Bethel Guest House, Dumaguete City with Municipal Local Government Operations Officers (MLGOOs), municipal engineers, SPPO and staff.
RPMES is one of the initiatives to mainstream the culture of monitoring and evaluation in the government.
Another activity is the Comprehensive Development Plan Assessment which aims to further strengthen alignment of local development plans and investment programs across levels of government and ensure compliance of cities and municipalities.
