SSS Pagadian runs after contribution evaders for employees welfare

PAGADIAN CITY, 22 MAR (PIA) -- The Social Security System (SSS) here has recently monitored business estgablishments and reported that four of the establishments visited were identified with contribution payment issues under the RACE program, while six were not yet registered with SSS, affecting a total of 161 workers from their businesses.

The SSS has launched its Run After Contribution Evaders (RACE) campaign for the fourth time in the city of Pagadian on March 17, 2023 with the aim of increasing awareness of employers' responsibility to cover the mandatory SSS premium contributions made by their member-employees.

The SSS RACE Team visited ten establishments in the city, issuing notices of compliance to those who were delinquent in their obligations.

The SSS RACE Team has given delinquent establishments 15 days to comply with their obligations, or face further legal action.

According to branch manager Edwin Remoto, while some employers have made progress in covering employee contributions, there are still those who are delinquent with their obligations.

“Ang intension karun dili na nga apason sila para mag-file ug kaso. Ang among priority karun is maka-comply sila. Compliance for the benefit of the employees,” Atty. Cyrene C. Tinae of the SSS legal department said.

(The intention is not to run after them to file a case. Our priority is for them to comply. Compliance for the benefit of the employees.)

The campaign aims to encourage compliance among business owners for the benefit of their employees. Atty. Cyrene C. Tinae, who is part of the RACE Team, emphasized the importance of shifting their approach from confrontation towards compliance during the RACE operation in the city.

The SSS RACE Team anticipates collecting around P960,000.00 in unpaid contributions from the responsible employers. The campaign serves as a reminder for all employers to fulfill their obligations to their employees and comply with SSS regulations to ensure the protection and welfare of their workers.
