DUMAGUETE CITY, Negros Oriental, April 19 (PIA) -- More than 2,000 job openings will be available for job seekers on May 1 during the Labor Day Job Fair which will be held at the Lamberto Macias Sports Center, this city.
Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) Negros Oriental Provincial Director Ma. Teresa Tanquiamco announced this during the Kapihan sa PIA forum where she also promoted other activities for the upcoming celebration of the 121st Labor Day.
The job fair will be carried out in partnership with the Provincial Public Employment Service Office (PESO).
“This will start at 8:00 in the morning, but we are expecting our job seekers to be there earlier,” Tanquiamco said.
Provincial PESO Manager Maritess Angeles said around 1,500 local job vacancies and 1,2000 overseas job postings will be offered during the Labor Day Job Fair.
“Daghan dire ang sa Customer Service Representative (CSR) sa local. Sunod sa CSR ang operation team leader. Kato man ning sa mga BPOs mao na sila daghan vacancies sa pagkakaron (Most of the hirings pertain to CSR. Other vacancies pertain to operation team leader. Thes vacancies are mostly related to BPOs),” Angeles said.
“Sa overseas, naa tay mga nurses, domestic workers, household workers, building cleaners. Mao ning daghan-daghan na vacancies (For overseas hiring, we have openings for nurses, domestic workers, household workers, building cleaners),” She added.
The Provincial PESO Office has invited 25 local companies and five overseas companies to join the said event and they are still eyeing to invite more companies.
Angeles said the job fair is not only intended for residents of Dumaguete City but also for all job seekers in the province.
She advised them to prepare the basic documents needed for job hiring.
Aside from this, they must also register at the PESO portal before going to the venue.
Angeles said the link for the online registration portal will be announced soon.
Tanquiamco also hopes that many job seekers will be hired on the spot.
“We would like to ask you to please hire on the spot. Hopefully, maka-commit mo kung pila ang inyong i-hire on the spot (Hopefully, you will be able to commit how many people you can hire on the spot). We would like to accommodate our job seekers as much as possible,” Tanquiamco said.
DOLE will also organize a one-stop shop of government services for the members of the labor sector with other concerned government agencies on the same date and venue.
The Technical Education and Skills Development Authority will also conduct a skills demonstration for the public on the same day and in the same venue. (RAL/PIA7 Negros Oriental)
