CEBU CITY, Cebu, April 19 (PIA) -- The Office of the Vice President (OVP) is eyeing to add more satellite offices in the country.

OVP spokesperson Atty. Reynaldo Munsayac during the press conference on April 18 disclosed that for this year, there are plans to put up two satellite offices - one in Bicol region and one in Northern Luzon.

Munsayac said the opening of the satellite offices are in line with the efforts of the Vice President to bring the OVP closer to the people.

With the satellite offices, the public who are seeking assistance from the OVP will no longer need to travel to Metro Manila.

“These satellite offices were opened to assist individuals to access help, and for swifter response in times of disasters,” Munsayac added.

Aside from the medical, hospitalization, and burial assistance, the office will also be providing disaster management and livelihood programs to qualified beneficiaries.

The satellite offices are not set up by region but are strategically handpicked for their location.

A major consideration for this is the accessibility to other areas or islands.

Appointed managers are also present in these offices.

The OVP satellite office in Cebu will be handled by Atty. Ma. Constancia Corominas-Lim.

Currently, there are seven satellite offices which are located in Bacolod City, Tandag (Surigao del Sur), Davao City, Cebu, Tacloban, Dagupan, and Zamboanga.

The OVP satellite offices were launched on July 1, the first day of Vice President Sara Duterte's term. (MYP/PIA7 Cebu)
