DOLE reorganizes Bohol TIPC to facilitate industrial peace dialogues

CORTES, Bohol, May 27 (PIA) -- As a means to open avenues for dialogues and consultations on policies and programs affecting labor and management, the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) in Region 7 facilitated the establishment and organization of the Tripartite Industrial Peace Council (TIPC) in Bohol.

Now chaired by Gov. Erico Aristotle Aumentado, the TIPC works as a consultative and advisory mechanism for the DOLE’s Bureau of Labor Standards as a local venue for social dialogue among the government, management and labor sectors. 

Co-chaired by the DOLE with Bohol Labor and Employment Officer Maria Eloida Cantona, the TIPC here monitors the full implementation and compliance of the provisions of tripartite instrument, international agreements, labor codes of conduct  and all agreements that redound to the benefit of the labor and management sectors.

Sitting as vice chairs for the council are Leoncio Plazos Jr., representing the management sector, and Bernardo Bihag, representing the labor sector.

Plazos of Jjs Foodland represents the establishment owners, operators, proprietors of all legal establishments with workers, while Bihag of the Bohol Mine Workers of the Philippine Mining Corporation represents all laborers and their interests.

Board of Directors for this term’s TIPC include Baldomero Monreal Jr.,  of Bohol Light Company Inc., Maria Selina Abarquez of the Bohol Quality Corp., Haydee Tan of Holy Name University, and Nikka Blanco Pactol of NICO Security Agency.

Also sitting in the Board of Directors are William Gamorot of TACPEWA AWATU Cocoa-Cola Beverages Philippines Inc., Jocelyn Calvis of Bohol Quality  United Workers Association, Ma. Luz Lucip of Marcela Farms Inc., Employees Independent and Marilyn Camelotes of the Alturas Supermarket Corporation.

With the new composition, the TIPC would be empowered to review existing labor, economic and social policies and to evaluate local and international developments affecting them.

The TIPC can also formulate for submission to the President or Congress, tripartite views, recommendations and proposals on labor, economic and social concerns.

They, too, can advise the DOLE Secretary in the formulation or implementation of policies and legislation affecting labor and employment, strengthen communication lines and mechanisms for undertaking joint programs among government, management and business sectors. (RAHC/PIA7 Bohol)

During its general assembly, DOLE was able to accept TIPC nominations, reminding those nominated personnel to work to advance their issues and concerns for action, (PIA Bohol)
