Lamitan City unveils Roseville Darussalam housing project

ISABELA CITY, Basilan, Jun 22 (PIA) – The City Government of Lamitan represented by Mayor Oric Furigay together with Human Settlement and Development Minister Hamid Aminoddin Barra, MHSD Director General Esmael Ebrahim and members of the City Council unveiled on June 2, the 50-unit Roseville Darussalam Housing Resettlement Project in Barangay Balobo, Lamitan City.

In his message during the program, Mayor Furigay described the housing project as a testament to his administration’s commitment to providing safe and decent housing for its constituents, who have been displaced or affected by natural calamities and other unfortunate circumstances.

“The Roseville Darussalam housing project is a symbol of hope and new beginnings for the families who will be residing here. We understand the challenges that come with being displaced and we believe that everyone deserves a safe and comfortable place to call home,” Furigay said.

Furigay emphasized that with these housing units, he hope to provide a new and better start for the families who will be residing here.

He also expressed his gratitude to the government agencies, private sector and other organizations that worked closely with the LGU in making the project a reality.

Furthermore, Furigay urged the beneficiaries to take care of their new home and to make the most of the opportunities that come with having a stable and secure living space.

“Let this be a reminder that no matter what challenges we face, we can always find hope and new beginnings. Let us continue to work together towards providing a better future for all our citizens,” Furigay stressed.

Likewise, he also expressed his gratitude to the Bangsamoro government, especially Ministry of Human Settlements and Development headed by Atty. Barra and Director General Ebrahim for their unwavering support to this project.

For his part, Minister Hamid Aminoddin Barra from Human Settlement and Development has commended the LGU of Lamitan under Mayor Furigay’s leadership for the completion of the housing project and its initiative and dedication to the peace process. He also highlighted the presence of Bangsamoro government in helping the Bangsamoro people.

“The Bangsamoro government is here to serve,” Barra stressed as he said Lamitan is the first LGU to finish such a premier housing project and that its completion was so fast because the LGU has a ready land, hence the construction immediately proceeded.

He also assured bigger budget for the expansion and land development of the housing project next year.

Similar housing project is being constructed in the municipalities of Maluso, Tipo Tipo, Adjul and Albarka. Meanwhile, six housing units in Tawi-Tawi and five in Sulu are also on-going. (RVC/NDR/PIA Basilan with reports from Richard G. Falcatan-PIO)
